On Wednesday, we read an article that introduced us to the Judaism faith. The article discussed the basic beliefs, leaders, holy book, goals, holidays and traditions of the religion.
Students completed a graphic organizer the broke down the article and provides great notes. This was worth 6 points.
The homework assignment for the evening asked students; armed with the information from class on Judaism to interpret if they believe Judaism is a religion of unity or conflict. The assignment is due on Thursday and is worth 6 points.

In class on Tuesday, we looked at a map with different dots on it. We tried to separate the dots into two individual groups. This however was impossible to do. It was revealed that the dots represent settlements of Jews and Muslims in the West Bank of Israel.
Students analyzed why they believe their is conflict in the West Bank and what is stopping a peace agreement.

Today, we began our first unit on Religion: Unity vs. Conflict. Students brainstormed first independently; and then with a partner ideas on how religion can bring people together and tear them apart. After we analyzed images of religion causing unity and conflict. Students interpreted the images and explained their views.
Lastly, students were to have binders and their signed contract in today. Staying organized is crucial for our class and a binder definitely helps.
2 worksheets, each worth 4 points, and the warm up for 4 points. Total of 12 points for today!

On Friday, 8/21, we analyzed 6 pictures. We made our own interpretations bout the images. After discussion, we realized how different people interpreted the pictures. Some saw birds, some saw rabbits and others saw oceans. Nevertheless, students realized because of perspective and point of view people can see objects and ideas differently. Interpretation and Perspective were also defined as a class.
Worksheet was worth 6 points. And first warm up was collected, 4 points.

Today in class we discussed the warm up procedure for our class. The purpose, scoring rubric and examples of scores were explained. Lastly, a classwork assignment was collected for 4 Points!
Tomorrow will begin our first discussion on interpretation.
